James is a Manager in Frontier’s competition practice.
Since joining Frontier in 2007, James has advised on a number of mergers, market investigations and litigation cases. He often works closely with colleagues on issues that cover more than one Frontier practice area – such as financial services and healthcare. In 2012, for example, he advised London Stock Exchange on its merger with LCH.Clearnet, which was cleared unconditionally by the OFT after an in-depth investigation. And in 2013 he advised on the first merger between NHS hospital trusts to be investigated by the UK Competition Commission. Other recent clients include Hewlett Packard, the UK Department of Health, Lloyd’s of London and a number of leading investment banks.
James also has extensive experience of working for the energy sector, where he is expert on the design of tariffs for use of the electricity and gas networks. Clients include Centrica, SSE and Ofgem.
