Christmas time is a period when most of us want to be home with our loved ones. However, every year, a large number of A&E staff forgo their turkey and sprouts to help us deal with our festive season dramas.
Our analysis shows that, on Christmas Day itself, activity drops to some of its lowest levels in the year. The reprieve is only temporary, though, as activity picks up sharply after Christmas Day with a few peaks and further troughs along the way until early in the new year. A&E staff should enjoy their Christmas dinner while it’s still hot.
